Can you believe I haven't done an update since June? So much has changed since then, so let's sit down and chat.
So, last time we talked, I'd just got myself a Part-Time job and I was super excited. Unfortunately, I'm no longer at that organisation. I was sad to leave, but there were some challenges to the role I did not expect, and I no longer felt comfortable in that environment, so I made the decision to leave in early September.
We celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr and we've just finished celebrating Eid-Ul-Adha. I was so saddened to learn of all the deaths that took place during the Hajj this year, it must be a difficult time for the families of those affected. May Allah grant them peace and patience during this trying time.
My family came to stay with us for a bit, and it was fun to take them on a tour of London. Sometimes I feel like I see this city with new eyes every time we take others around. We don't explore as much as we should, I'm going to try and make it a priority to see all the great free things this city has to offer while I still can before the weather turns.
I also completed the Beginners Professional Makeup Course which means I'm on my way to becoming a makeup artist! I want to focus more on Asian bridal, so I'll be going back in October for another course Inshallah (God Willing). I have been practicing on myself and friends, but without all the proper equipment, it's hard to create a cohesive look that showcases my skills. As anyone knows, makeup is incredibly expensive, so I'm saving my pennies (more like pounds!), for my second course and then I can decide what makeup to buy for my kit.
I have learned a lot about not only makeup brands but which formulations show up better on the skin. Sad to say, the expensive brands need less product for more pay off. Our teacher suggested some budget brands, but I've not honestly been that impressed with some of them. They're fine for my own personal kit, but for a professional kit, I wouldn't use them as they don't give the same effect.
As you can see, Humairak has had a bit of a makeover. I bought a theme from Bluchic, but I wasn't 100% happy with it. When Mel of A Prettier Web announced her first Wordpress Theme, I knew I needed it in my life. I am so happy because it's way more me, and matches my business cards. Did I tell you I had business cards made up for my blog? Handing them out has been one of the most nerve-wracking things I've ever done, but it's definitely made me more confident.
Another new feature on the site is a page I've called Deals and Steals. Sometimes I get e-mailed about some pretty amazing deals, and rather than bombard you with time-sensitive deals all the time, I've decided to create its own separate page. All the brands I list are affiliate links, so if you end up clicking and buying, I get a little money to help run this site. If there is a particular brand you want me to list, do let me know.
We celebrated our 2 year Wedding Anniversary in August! It's been a rocky ride this year, but we've come through it Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God). I created a 1st Wedding Anniversary Guide, and I'm hoping to create a 2nd Wedding Anniversary Guide later as well.
My 10 Item Wardrobe for Autumn is pretty much complete! I'm super happy with the items, and I'll be showcasing them slowly on the blog. I learned so much when I did it in the summer, I'm excited to share not only the pieces that will be taking me into Autumn but also the way I'll be styling them throughout the season.
