Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick Review
The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick is the latest blogger favourite to jump on the matte liquid lipstick trend. I must be the only person who just doesn't like these!
First of all, the positives. They are priced at £8.99 for 1 shade, which is super affordable if you're on a budget. Second, they come in a range of colours, but are extremely hard to find as they're always sold out in store and online, so it becomes an even more cult product.
There was an offer for some extra points on Superdrug, so I initally bought them to test-drive for my professional makeup kit, and I was sorely dissapointed.
i bought 3 shades.
Nude-ist which is a pink-y nude and surprisingly flattering.
Hot Pepper is an orange-y shade of red.
Red-volution is a deep red shade.
Here I've swatched the shades for you in natural day-light.
Now on the skin, they are gorgeous, and even when you apply them on your lips, they dry matte. The packaging is luxurious, and you feel quite decadent when applying this product.
For me, they just make my lips dry out and the product, when applied, just doesn't last. I've tried slathering a tonne of lip balm on underneath, then wiping it off. I've also tried doing really thin coats and honestly, it lasts about 1 - 2 hours max before the lip colour feathers out.
I am quite hard on my lipsticks and so far the only ones that have stood the test of time for me, have been higher end ones like MAC.
I really wanted to like this product, but I just didn't. If you're unconvinced, I've selected some reviews from other Beauty Bloggers who have also tried this product.
